August Full Moon & 8/8 Lion's Gate Portal

How have you been? What are you sensing these days? This is a powerful time as we have a few occurrences coming together.


We have the Full Moon on August 8th/9th. In India, we call it Sravana Purnima. The festival of Raksha Bandhan falls under this moon. Happy festivities to all those celebrating :)


Today 8/08 is when the Lion’s Gate Portal peaks. This is one of the most powerful astrological events of the year. A cosmic gateway opens, believed to accelerate spiritual growth, if you are tuned in and doing the practices that will help you quieten and connect with your intuition. A great day to listen to the guidance that is already within you - to release/set intentions/connect with your soul's purpose. It may be different for each one of us. But the invitation is strong, so harness the energy of the time to find your way forward.


This is also the last Full Moon before eclipse season begins (Lunar eclipse on September 7 and Solar eclipse on September 21). We know eclipses create massive shifts and fuel much needed transformations. The beginnings of it will already be felt, more so on Moon days.


The invitation for this Full Moon is to shut the noise out and embrace slowing down and silence. And to LISTEN to your soul's voice.

What can you do today?

What can you do today that calms you, grounds you, helps you to sit with yourself and takes you into a space of silence? Think. Write it down now. And of course, do it :)


For me, it is journaling, chanting, meditation, yoga nidra and visiting a spiritual place. Whatever yours is, make sure you set aside the time today for it. IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU HARNESS THE ENERGY TODAY. Try not to be too busy, in noisy gatherings today. Find your quiet time.

Whatever you choose to do, open and close your ritual by offering gratitude to your ancestors, Gurus, the Full Moon and Mother Earth. Spend some quiet time tomorrow to synthesise what surfaced from your ritual today, towards putting them into action.
