Hello Moonchild :)

It feels wonderful to connect with you on the first Full Supermoon of the year!
Were you able to find some reflection time during the December Full moon to wrap up the year? If not, it is alright, you can still do so. Go back to the year-end reflection that I shared. Do that practice for 2-3 days before following this guidance.
This day is significant in an Indian context as Pausha Purnima. On this Full Moon, devotees take a dip in the holy waters at the Prayag Sangam (the confluence of Rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati) or at the Dashashwamedh Ghat at Varanasi. It is believed that this dip or 'Snana' will relieve them of their sins from this and previous births, putting them on the path to Moksha.
Moon days are known to be conducive for this kind of deep inner work. This moon is a good one to get our bearings in place and set the tone for the year.
Start by pondering over these questions:
What is the kind of life that I envision for myself?
What can I choose to do and not do, to live life this way?
What is the frequency I want to vibrate at? A state that becomes my normal, the state I can return to quickly even if I lose track once in a while.
Now, these are bigger questions that you can answer over the next few days. Would be wise to write them down in huge letters on large sheets of paper. Keep these on your work table. You can keep adding as you reflect and contemplate.
Today, let's create the foundation towards this :)
The Full Moon's invitation is to shine the light of your awareness on all that needs to be accepted and released. Luna encourages you to be soft, kind and gentle to yourself and others and to open your heart to receiving as much as giving!
What is your ritual?
You will need: A quiet room, about an hour, a yoga mat, journal and pen, music of your choice. If you have a favourite deity or an altar, let these be part of the space you are practising in.
A) CENTERING
Sit in a meditative posture. Observe your connection with Mother Earth. Remember your Gurus and seek their blessings. Visualize a luminous Full Moon in your eyebrow centre. As you inhale and exhale a few times, ask the lunar energies to flow through you and guide you. Scan the body from bottom to top to check in on any discomfort/tension/tightness/aches/pains. Make movements that can help ease these areas. Breathe at a natural, comfortable pace.
Post this, you may choose to do a gentle movement/asana practice that aids release and opening.
B) JOURNALING
Keep your journal and pen ready.
Close your eyes and take a few breaths into the heart space.
Reflect on life in the recent past. Bring to mind situations/circumstances/people that have been challenging for you and you were not able to find resolution to despite efforts. Notice how your body feels as you do this reflection. Open your eyes and start writing using the prompt,
'I accept...'
Then close eyes again and take a few breaths fully feeling the acceptance. Tell yourself that this is a choice that you are making and you will not allow it to sap your energies anymore.
Now reflect on what needs to be released from your system. You might already be working on this. These could be your own thoughts, habits, attitudes, perceptions, responses, worries and fears and the like. These could also be tangible physical sensations, discomfort, aches and pains, tightness and even those you cannot label. Notice how your body feels as you do this reflection. Open your eyes and start writing using the prompt,
'I release...'
Then lie down on the floor/mat. With every comfortably longer exhale, visualize deeper release into the earth. Stay as long as you like, till you feel a sense of ease.
C) WELCOMING WHAT IS FLOWING TO YOU
Get up and shake your body out. Put on music that your body resonates with.
Move, flow, dance :)
Do this for at least 10 minutes.
Then open your arms out wide towards the sky or the moon if you are outdoors. In a gesture of receiving all that is flowing towards you. Keep a gentle smile on your face. Say this aloud three times.
'I open myself to what is coming'
D) SITTING WITH THE EXPERIENCE
Sit in a meditative posture with your spine erect (use props if needed).
Scan the body and allow it to settle into a relaxed yet alert position,
Rest your palms on the knees, palms facing up, fingers relaxed.
Focus on your breath and witness it flowing in and out effortlessly for a few breaths.
Keep your awareness in the heart space.
Touch this area with your dominant hand. (optional)
Visualize breathing in and out of this region for 7 breaths, without altering the natural pace of the breath.
As you do this, locate that space deep inside the heart where your inhale ends and exhale begins.
Reside in that space for a while, in that silence once your count is over. Nothing matters except that you simply be there. Feel truly full for the experience. Trust the abundance of your source, and the many blessings that will come your way!
D) CLOSING
Close the ritual by offering gratitude to your ancestors, Gurus, the Moon and Mother Earth.
Have a wonderful first Full Moon ritual and a meaningful, conscious and grounded 2026! May you be able to adopt the attitude of a witness towards equanimity!
From my heart to yours
Lots of Love & Gratitude
Sheetal
