Hello Moonchild :)
How did the New Moon Solar Eclipse play out for you?
To recap, Eclipses bring forth destined events that fuel much-needed transformations in life. The Eclipse season (that is still showering its effects) is a powerful portal for tapping into your intuition, elevating consciousness, aligning yourself to what you are meant to do. If you did not read my last blog on it, please click here.
We had defined the direction for the time:
Ground yourself
Connect with your roots, honour your ancestors
More being than doing | More witnessing than action
Embrace silence, connect with your intuition
Relinquish control & Trust the Flow
How did this sit with you? Were you able to follow some of it? Those who did not follow the ritual/read the blog last time, you can still reflect on the time through the lens of this direction.
This Full Moon is a Super Moon, the Moon being closer to the Earth. The nurturing and nourishing energies of Chandra Ma are amplified. In some parts of India, people keep rice based preparations (kheer, poha, puffed rice, sweets etc) overnight under the Moon, for the food to absorb these lunar qualities. These are consumed the next day. For the same reason, moonbathing is also a common practice under this Full Moon called Sharad Purnima in India.
There is also an urgency and intensity that you may sense - you feel the need to move forward. That is the nature of this Moon. Telling you to gather all the insights and guidance and fearlessly take action.
So what can you do?
Ground yourself, as with all Full Moons. Take stock and become intensely aware of your current state - moods, emotions, feelings, memories, tendencies, body responses, nature of communication. Meditate on this Moon for intuition to awaken and offer clarity. Gather your insights and direction. Keep resistance/doubts/hesitation aside. Accept, Move ahead, Accelerate!
Your ritual
You will need: A quiet room, about an hour, journal and pen. If you have a favourite deity or an altar, let these be part of the space you are practising in.
The practice is similar to the last time, to maintain a connection and flow, specially for those of you who did the eclipse ritual.
A) CENTERING
Sit in a meditative posture. Observe your connection with Mother Earth. Remember your Gurus and seek their blessings. Visualize a luminous Full Moon in your eyebrow centre. As you inhale and exhale a few times, ask the lunar energies to flow through you and guide you. Scan the body from bottom to top to check in on any discomfort/tension/tightness/aches/pains. Make movements that can help ease these areas, make sure you breathe well.
Post this, you may choose to do a gentle movement/asana practice that aids release.
B) GROUNDING
Lie face/stomach down on your mat. Fold your elbows and rest your forehead on your forearms in Makarasana.
Keep your feet comfortably hip width apart. Relax into this position.
Start witnessing the natural flow of your breath without altering it.
Notice how as you inhale, the belly gently pushes into the floor. Watch how it deflates and releases slowly as you exhale. Observe how there is a rhythm to it.
Shift the focus to the exhales and how the whole body softens and surrenders to the Earth everytime you breathe out, as if you are willingly offering yourself to Mother Earth through her force of gravity.
Feel release of all that does not serve you, while you exhale.
Do this for 28 breaths.
Gently come into a seated position
C) TAKING STOCK THROUGH JOURNALING
Reach out for your journal and pen and start writing using the prompt:
These days I am...
(in the realm of moods, emotions, feelings, memories, tendencies, body responses, nature of communication, anything else)
Once done, read what you have written, observing whatever surfaces within you as you do so.
Close eyes and allow the experience to settle into you.
Simply accept what you have written without judgements.
D) MEDITATION
Sit in a meditative posture with your spine erect (use props if needed).
Scan the body and allow it to settle into a relaxed yet alert position,
Rest your palms on the knees, palms facing up, fingers relaxed.
Focus on your breath and witness it flowing into and out of the heart space, without altering the natural pace of the breath.
Locate that space deep inside the heart where your inhale ends and exhale begins.
Visualize a Full Moon in this space. Keep your awareness on this image as your breath continues naturally. Take 14 breaths.
Let the visual of the Moon dissolve. Dwell in this space of silence and stillness for a while.
If anything surfaces in the form of insights or action points, hold space for them without judgements and with compassion, without thinking any further. Then return to the quietness.
When you have been in complete stillness and silence for a while and nothing more surfaces, gradually make some gentle movements and open your eyes.
E) FINDING GUIDANCE THROUGH JOURNALING
Reach out for your journal and pen and start writing using the prompt:
I am guided to...
This time, write continuously, without taking pen off the paper for 5-10 minutes.
Once done, read what you have written, again observing your responses as you do so.
Close eyes and own the experience.
F) AFFIRMATION & GRATITUDE
Write down and read this affirmation aloud 3 times.
I TAKE STEPS FORWARD WITH BELIEF, CONFIDENCE AND COURAGE.
I TRUST MY JOURNEY.
Make a promise to yourself to bring the guidance to life. Remind yourself to read the guidance every morning soon after waking up and every night just before you sleep.
Close the ritual by offering gratitude to your ancestors, Gurus, the Moon and Mother Earth.
Stay open to insights and further guidance-they may come to you in meditation or when you wake up or through people you interact with or even as dreams.
Have a beautiful Full Moon ritual and a mindful time ahead! :)
Gratitude
